Back ground Information:
Pyrol Tech is an Green Economy start-up that uses self-developed, off-grid, pyrolysis technology to recycle organic waste and process alternate biomass into carbon-based products fit for the Agriculture and Construction Industries.
We also provide effective on-site waste management solutions and Services, for Wood Waste and alternate Biomass processing (Bio-oil extraction).
Our MVP Carbon Negative Building Materials
PyrolCrete – a green alternate to traditional concrete that is:
o Light weight & Robust
o No odors typically associated with wet curing concrete
o Promotes cost savings
o Considered an engineered carbon sink & non-pollutant
o Fits in with current & conventional RSA Construction practices
PyrolWood - thermally treated & modified wood that is:
o Moisture Resistant
o Pest & Fungal resistant
o Light weight & stable
o (Pyrol Tech would be the first Local manufacture of Thermally Treated wood.)
o Able to manufacture Soft & Hardwood variants
Other Products:
Bio-oils – Pyroligneous Acid
o !00% organic
o Organic pest repellent
o Plant grow enhancer
Biochar – Agriculture and Activated Grade
o Granular or ground, can be manufactured to order.

Key Eco Impacts to address:
1. Carbon Emissions relating to the Built Environment:
Buildings are responsible for 39% of global energy related carbon emissions.
28% of these emissions goes towards heating and cooling.
11% of emissions are related to manufacture building materials and construction practices.
2. Organic and Construction Waste to Landfills:
South Africa generates 107 mil tons of waste per year.
34.6% (approx. 37mill tons) of which constitutes as organic waste and Biomass from sugar
mills, sawmills, paper & pulp industry.
8.1% of which comes from Construction and demolition waste.
3. The reliance on natural resources:
The manufacture process of Building materials, is energy intensive and “resource happy” most of
which (clay, steel, concrete and glass) come from Non-renewable resources. Timber and wood being the most sustainable. the preparation and application of these materials generates waste, South Africa alone produces 4 million tons of sawmill waste per year.
High Construction cost, long build time & green building policies.
SA is one of the most expensive countries in Africa to build. With limited access to CO2 negative/neutral materials.

Proposed solution
The Built Environment and contributor to 37% of global Carbon and GHG emissions, it has a responsibility in addressing climate and Environmental issues.
Pyrol Tech’s MVP PyrolCrete, a greener alternate to conventional Concrete. PyrolCrete will address key Impact issues such as:
PyrolCrete has the environmental benefit of being a Carbon sink and a non-pollutant. The Projected
net climate impact is -252 kt CO₂eq. as compared to Concrete.
m³ of PyrolCrete approx. 1100 kg of wood waste is used, mitigating about 370kgCO₂eq.
Per m³ uses 30L LESS water to activate, compared to conventional Concrete
At Full Scale a Facility Pyrol Tech can reduce 2880 tons of waste from waste generators and alternate biomass suppliers into 960 tons of Biochar = 1068m³ of PyrolCrete per year.
Impact of proposed solution
To date approximately 18 kilo tons of Carbon was off-set while creating 47 employment opportunities. By 2027 we can increase that impact to 252-kilo tons.
Pyrol Tech is proud to announce and acknowldge TIA as an invested partner in our Carbon Negative Tech development project. We will strive together to build eco sustainable and cicrular economy mechanisms for South Africaa.
